The Tennessee Vols are closing in on another quarterback addition much sooner than expected
It looks like the Tennessee Volunteers are on the verge of making their next quarterback addition, and it could happen sooner than anyone expected.
The Tennessee Vols landed a commitment from 2027 three-star quarterback Derrick Baker in February.
And it may not be long before the Vols land another quarterback commitment, this time in the 2028 class.
2028 four-star quarterback Kaden Craft emerges as Tennessee’s top target
2028 four-star quarterback Kaden Craft has emerged as the Vols’ top target in the 2028 recruiting cycle.
“Kaden [Craft], a quarterback in the 2028 class, that feels like Tennessee’s guy,” said VolQuest’s Austin Price in June. “And it feels like Tennessee’s got a ton of momentum with him. He was in town Saturday for the big orange barbecue, and then camp on Sunday. So it feels like Tennessee’s got a ton of momentum there.”
Craft, 6-foot-4/210 pounds from Mooresville, NC, is rated by 247Sports as the No. 8 quarterback in the nation and the No. 4 player in the state of North Carolina.
On3’s Chad Simmons reported on Tuesday that Tennessee is the early favorite for Craft, with Florida, Ole Miss, and Texas A&M also in the mix.
Craft isn’t in a rush to make a decision, but he acknowledged to On3 that his decision could be sped up because spots can fill up quickly.
“I’m trying to run my own race,” said Craft. “But if you have five schools on your list and three quarterbacks commit to three of them, you’re kind of scrambling because most schools aren’t taking two guys. I’m not in a rush, but I do want to get things figured out.”
Craft is obviously trying to find the best fit, but he knows he doesn’t have time to waste. That could lead to him making a decision before the end of the summer — which would be similar to the timing of Faizon Brandon’s commitment to Tennessee in 2024 before his junior season of high school.
