Pros for Dante Moore

  • Polished beyond his experience in 2025 with the operation of his offense. Impressive control for a first-time starter.
  • Illustrates a compact, quick release that can amplify strong moments of anticipation as a passer.
  • Shows NFL starter accuracy to set his playmakers up for success with the football, particularly in rhythm.
  • Shows a natural ability to contort the flight trajectory of the football and throw with touch.
  • Appears to understand route leverage and maximize throwing windows in tight coverage.

Cons for Dante Moore

  • Does not possess dynamic ability with his legs. He’s a smooth mover within the pocket and can execute rollout game. But Moore is missing a true dual-threat presence.
  • Was severely rattled by pressure against the Indiana Hoosiers both times in 2025.
  • Is not going to blow folks away with his pure throwing velocity — at least not based on how he played last season.
  • Unassuming listed measurables and a generally lean frame will leave some eager to get an official weight — especially as someone who isn’t a huge running threat.

Background

Moore was born in East Cleveland, OH and played his high school football for Martin Luther King HS in Detroit, MI. There, he led the program to consecutive state championships and was ranked as a 5-star recruit (247 Sports). Moore, one of the top quarterback recruits in the entire country, was originally committed to the University of Oregon but flipped his commitment to UCLA. He credited the loss of Kenny Dillingham from the Ducks’ coaching staff as a prominent reason why.

Moore started five games for the Bruins as a true freshman, failing to win the job to start the 2023 season. He entered the transfer portal shortly after Thanksgiving and landed with the Ducks. He sat behind Dillon Gabriel in 2024 before claiming the starting job for the 2025 season. Moore earned Third-Team All-Big Ten honors for his play and ultimately decided to return for another season with the Ducks after flirting with the NFL.

Player Evaluation

Oregon Ducks quarterback Dante Moore profiles as an NFL starting quarterback who approaches the game with an efficient mindset. He’s now going to be battle-tested as a starting quarterback thanks to his decision to return to Eugene for another season of development. He may not win the beauty pageant of quarterback traits, but his film illustrates a high level understanding of the position.

Teams that insist on chasing a physical marvel at the position will likely lean other directions but Moore’s tape plays all the hits. Anticipation. Accuracy. A quick release. Just enough quick twitch to be effective forcing outside of structure moments. The big question is how polished he can become under duress. Moore doesn’t necessarily have an “easy button” to press when plays break down, meaning he’s going to have to be more efficient than most quarterbacks in successfully identifying pressure problems before the snap and having his answer ready to roll.

He came up big late on tough nights against Iowa and Penn State in road games last season, which stand as his best moments against adversity as of summer 2026. Getting the Ducks back into those high-profile moments again this season and rising to the occasion is the ONE thing everyone wants to see out of his play.

If he had a more consistent creative flair and explosiveness to his game, I’d profile him to the Clemson version of Deshaun Watson. I don’t believe Moore is THAT athletic, but the throwing style and his mentality as a passer certainly brings some callback moments. Todd McShay sees it, too.

Of all the quarterbacks eligible for the 2027 NFL Draft entering this year’s college football season, Moore has, in my opinion, the cleanest tape. He’s got the highest floor. His objective moving forward will be to convince evaluators that his ceiling warrants an unquestioned mantle atop of the quarterback class. That comes with big game performances, plus better answers and creativity outside of structure and/or continued efficiency in starting his eyes in the right place to avoid negative situations.
