Ohio State football looks to have the attention of another major pass rusher that very well could end up in Columbus
The Ohio State Buckeyes have hit a home run with recruiting the defensive line for the class of 2027. Now, the Buckeyes are setting themselves up to do it again in 2028.
Larry Johnson continues to do his job at a high level for the Ohio State Buckeyes as the defensive line coach, and there are no signs of him slowing down at 74 years old.
Ohio State already has a trio of high-end recruits in the 2027 class along its defensive line: DJ Jacobs, Wyatt Smith, and Marcus Fakatou. The Buckeyes are already off and running with recruiting their 2028 haul, and a talented pass rusher from Pennsylvania is among the top players on their board.
Ohio State is standing out to elite EDGE right in Big Ten country
The Buckeyes extended an offer to Malvern Prep (PA) EDGE George Parkinson IV in June of last year, and they’ve stayed in consistent touch since. Parkinson is down to six schools in his recruitment, and Ohio State is among the top teams along with Penn State, Oregon, Tennessee, LSU, and Texas A&M.
It’s the three Big Ten schools leading the way right now and what Ohio State has to offer is already impressing Parkinson.
“Their culture, history, and how they are all on the same page when it comes to competing at the highest level to win chips,” Parkinson said recently via Rivals. “What also stands out is their brotherhood and how they do have a faith-based background which is important to me. They also put guys in the NFL consistently.”
According to 247 Sports Composite, Parkinson is the No. 14 EDGE and No. 111 overall in the class. The 6-foot-4, 235-pound pass rusher is the No. 2 player in Pennsylvania in the class of 2028, and would be a nice recruiting win over the Nittany Lions if Ohio State can eventually land him.
Ohio State continues to recruit the defensive line at a high level every recruiting cycle. Parkinson could keep it going in 2028, where the Buckeyes already have a commitment from five-star DL Jameer Whyce in-state.
