Ohio State Buckeyes have taken a key weekend step in adding another potential future starting quarterback to the mix
The Ohio State Buckeyes have taken a key step with a big-time talent at quarterback in the class of 2028. However, they’ll have to beat out schools like Notre Dame and Michigan if they want to land him.
The Ohio State Buckeyes have a bit to work through with the future of their quarterback position past backup QB Tavien St. Clair.
Ohio State has four-star QB Brady Edmunds committed, but the door is open for him to flip to UCLA. Edmunds will decide in the next couple of commitments on what he’ll do.
For the class of 2028, Ohio State has its top target as five-star QB Christopher Vargas. There are multiple other potential targets out there if the Buckeyes don’t get Vargas, and they’re clearly heavily in the mix with one of them.
Ohio State is battling some heavy hitters for four-star QB Lukas Prock
The Buckeyes are one of five schools that have been named finalists for four-star Hun School (NJ) QB Lukas Prock. Ohio State is in the mix with schools like Michigan, Notre Dame, Indiana, and Florida involved.
According to 247 Sports Composite, Prock is the No. 6 quarterback in the class of 2028 and No. 69 overall player. The 6-foot-2, 190-pound quarterback holds 40 offers.
“The relationships with the staff are strong and I’m looking forward to continuing to build those,” Prock said of Ohio State via Rivals. “Watching coach Billy Fessler work during the Buckeyes’ spring game visit also stood out.
“He did a great job coaching those guys. The amount of responsibility they put on the quarterback was really impressive. Sitting in those meetings and seeing how sharp those quarterbacks were — that’s exactly the kind of environment I’m looking for.”
Prock had 41 passing touchdowns to seven interceptions as a sophomore while throwing for 4,330 yards through the air. A key thing to watch here is if a commitment comes off the board before his junior season begins, it probably won’t be the Buckeyes.
