David Gabriel Georges’ 40 yard dash time has been revealed, and it shows why he’s so coveted by Tennessee and Ohio State
2027 five-star running back David Gabriel Georges will be announcing his college decision on July 22. He’s set to choose between the Tennessee Vols and the Ohio State Buckeyes.
According to On3’s Chris Low, an unnamed college football coach believes 2027 five-star running back David Gabriel Georges is the best he’s seen at the position at his age.
“[Gabriel Georges is] the best I’ve ever seen at the running back position at that age,” said the coach to On3. “Now, he’s got to go prove it against college players, a lot of them as big and fast as he is, but I’ve never seen one going into his senior year of high school who looks more equipped than he does to be a dominant runner the day he steps onto campus.”
Gabriel Georges, who also told On3 that he hasn’t made a final decision yet, is set to choose between the Tennessee Vols and the Ohio State Buckeyes on July 22.
The native of Canada is going to be a star wherever he lands — some have compared him to Adrian Peterson, who rushed for 1,925 yards as a true freshman at Oklahoma in 2004.
These kinds of players don’t come along often, so it’s easy to see why Tennessee and Ohio State have aggressively pursued the five-star recruit.
But just how good is Gabriel Georges?
Well, we won’t know for sure until he steps onto a college football field, but the evidence we have so far suggests he’s the real deal.
Gabriel Georges has the vision, the work ethic, the discipline (he doesn’t eat any junk food), and the desire to be one of the best running backs ever.
He also has the physical skills.
Gabriel Georges already has NFL size at 5-foot-11/210 pounds. And he has NFL speed, too.
According to On3, Gabriel Georges has been laser-timed in the 40-yard dash at 4.38 seconds.
That’s faster than NFL superstars Bijan Robinson (4.46), Saquon Barkley (4.40), Christian McCaffrey (4.48), Jonathan Taylor (4.39), and James Cook (4.42).
(Jahmyr Gibbs, another star NFL running back, runs a 4.36.)
Gabriel Georges obviously still has room to grow as a player, and he’s guaranteed nothing in football just because he’s talented and physically elite. But if he stays the course, shows he can handle the already-crazy expectations (he just has to play his game and play free), then he has the potential to be an all-time great.
The only question now is whether he’ll be wearing Volunteer orange or Buckeye scarlet at the next level.
