It took a while, but former Tennessee Vols quarterback Josh Dobbs officially has a new home in the NFL.
According to multiple reports, the Detroit Lion are signing Dobbs to a one-year deal worth $1.4 million with $475k in guaranteed money.
Dobbs, who got married this offseason, went unsigned this summer until landing the deal with the Lions.
He’s expected to serve as the Lions’ primary backup quarterback after Teddy Bridgewater retired this weekend.
Dobbs is entering his 10th season in the NFL.
The former Vol spent the 2025 season with the New England Patriots.
Dobbs, who has played for nine different teams in the NFL, previously spent time with the Lions in 2022. He’s also played for the Pittsburgh Steelers, Cleveland Browns, Jacksonville Jaguars, Tennessee Titans, Arizona Cardinals, San Francisco 49ers, and Minnesota Vikings.
The Georgia native has played in 27 games in his career with 15 starts. Dobbs has totaled 3,346 yards, 17 passing touchdowns, 15 interceptions, 515 rushing yards, and eight rushing touchdowns since entering the NFL in 2017.
