The Cleveland Browns made notable changes to their depth chart this week, with a pair of rookies moving up during training camp practice. First-round pick left tackle Spencer Fano solidified his spot as the first-team left tackle, and second-round wide receiver Denzel Boston earned increased reps with the starters. Boston’s playmaking ability has carried over from OTAs into camp, and no Browns wide receiver has been better through the early portion of training camp.

The 6-foot-4 wideout has been going up and making contested catches down the field. He’s been getting open as a route runner at all three levels, and day in and day out he’s making plays and scoring touchdowns. Browns head coach Todd Monken wants him on the field, and they believe his presence could unlock other players on the roster, including veteran wide receiver Jerry Jeudy.

“He’s made a bunch of plays. I’ve seen it, you’ve seen it,” Monken said of Boston. “He’s made a bunch of plays. We want to move Jerry (Jeudy) around; I think Jerry is at his best when he’s on the move. He’s elite, he can separate. And I think Denzel has shown that when he’s in the boundary, and make contested catches, a lot of our three-by-one stuff may go to there.”

So, it’s like, it’s not final; we just want to see where we’re at with that mix. We also want to get KC (Concepcion) more involved because of what we’ve seen. Hell, IB (Isaiah Bond) made a great play yesterday on a glance and slant. So, I really like where we’re at.”

Cleveland has more wide receiver depth than it has had in quite a few years. Boston, Jeudy, and rookie KC Concepcion are the top options in the receiving corps right now. Behind them, Isaiah Bond, Cedric Tillman, and Tylan Wallace round out what could be the depth chart when the roster is trimmed to 53 players.

Jeudy looking to bounce back after down 2025 season

Jeudy is trying to have a bounce-back season after going for 602 yards and two touchdowns in 17 games last season. That came a year after he was a first-time Pro Bowler with 1,229 yards and four touchdowns for the Browns in 2024. Boston’s rise with the first team could help take pressure off Jeudy and allow Monken to move him around in more favorable alignments.

Boston has been terrific for the Browns so far during camp. If all goes to plan for Cleveland, he’ll be making the players around him better, including Jeudy.
