The time for the preseason is almost here for the Chicago Bears as the team prepares to host the Cleveland Browns for its preseason-opener at 1:00 p.m. ET on Saturday. Multiple games will be taking place in that time slot across the NFL, so it’s important to know how you can tune into the game live.

As for the game itself, the Browns have not yet announced which quarterback will be starting against the Bears between Deshaun Watson and Shedeur Sanders, but one could expect both quarterbacks will play in this game as the Browns look to identify their starter for the 2026 regular season.

As for the Bears, head coach Ben Johnson has not made the decision on which starters will play this weekend. However, quarterback Caleb Williams made it known on Tuesday that he would ideally like to play. We’ll see if he gets his wish for this game, which could be likely considering there was not a joint practice scheduled between these two teams.

What to watch for in the Bears vs. Browns preseason opener

This is still hard to say considering the official announcement hasn’t been made regarding which starters will play. However, reserves getting their chance to earn roster spots is what the preseason is all about.

One key battle to watch is at left tackle. Ben Johnson hopes to have clarity there sooner than later to determine his Week 1 starter. It’ll be worth watching to see if Braxton Jones returns to practice ahead of Saturday’s game and healthy enough to suit up. If not, Jedrick Wills Jr. will likely get the start against his former team that drafted him in the first-round. After that, the Bears will likely turn to Kiran Amegadjie with Theo Benedet at right tackle.

Skill depth will also be worth watching closely. Will training camp standout Kaden Davis keep making plays at wide receiver? Will Jahdae Walker show out again with quarterback Tyson Bagent? And which running backs will stand out between Salvon Ahmed, Roschon Johnson, Brittain Brown, and Coleman Bennett?

On the defensive side of the ball, I’ll be glued in watching the interior of the defensive line, especially the two rookies in Jordan van den Berg and Jayden Loving. With all of the injuries in the secondary, it’ll also be important to watch how the depth at safety and nickel holds up (keep an eye on rookie CB Malik Muhammad II).
