One of the biggest problems Brian Kelly left behind at LSU has finally been resolved
There were plenty of issues during the Brian Kelly era at LSU, but one of the big ones will no longer be an issue moving foward.
There were plenty of reasons why Brian Kelly didn’t work out as the head coach at LSU.
But perhaps the biggest reason was because Kelly and LSU were just never the right match. Kelly never truly understood the essence of LSU and what it means to be the head coach in Baton Rouge.
It was evident from the beginning — when Kelly fired longtime strength coach Tommy Moffitt just a few days after replacing Ed Orgeron as the program’s head coach — that the marriage between Kelly and the Tigers wasn’t destined to last.
The vibes were just never quite right at LSU under Kelly. And that was most obvious on game days when the sideline energy was often lackluster.
That won’t be an issue, of course, under new LSU head coach Lane Kiffin, who is known for having some elite sideline vibes.
According to On3’s Shea Dixon, it was clear at LSU’s first fall scrimmage that the sideline vibes have done a 180 under Kiffin.
“Sources who were on staff for the Brian Kelly era and now into the Kiffin era said the entire energy on the sidelines is different now, and that translates to the field,” wrote Dixon. “That was something people noticed was lacking during the Brian Kelly era. I don’t think that will be an issue moving forward.”
It’s obviously not a surprise to hear that the sideline vibes are much improved, but it’s still good to hear it confirmed.
