Former Tennessee QB Joe Milton makes loud statement after returning to the Dallas Cowboys following his surprising release
Former Tennessee Volunteers quarterback Joe Milton was signed to the Dallas Cowboys’ practice squad last week after initially making the 53-man roster.
Former Tennessee Vols quarterback Joe Milton learned last week just how quickly the rug can be pulled out from under you in the NFL.
Milton, who is entering his third season in the NFL, initially made the Cowboys’ 53-man roster before getting waived the next day.
The former Vol then went unclaimed and signed with the Cowboys’ practice squad.
Joe Milton addresses getting released by the Cowboys
On Monday, Milton addressed getting released by the Cowboys and admitted that it was “shocking.”
Milton’s confidence, however, isn’t shaken — he still believes he’s the best quarterback in the NFL.
“I’m still the best quarterback in my eyes,” said Milton. “It is what it is. It’s something you got to live with and take to the chin.”
That’s quite a statement from Milton, who, again, went unclaimed on waivers. But confidence is extremely important, so you certainly can’t fault Milton for that mindset.
The one thing Milton said, however, that’s a bit concerning is that he wouldn’t change anything from how he played before getting released.
“I don’t feel like I’d change nothing,” said Milton when asked what he could’ve done differently during the preseason. “Everything happens for a reason.”
Dallas likes Milton, but they released him for a reason. And if Milton is going to have a long career in the NFL, it would probably be a good idea to figure out why he was released and work to improve his game in those areas.
