Baltimore Ravens score two huge wins before they even play a snap against the Atlanta Falcons on Sunday Night Football
Zay Flowers has been a key component to the Ravens’ 3-1 start and the expectation is he’ll suit up against the Falcons on Sunday night despite dealing with a new injury that popped up in the last week. Baltimore also received good news on Marlon Humphrey’s availability.
The Baltimore Ravens are already without star quarterback Lamar Jackson heading into their Week 5 matchup against the Atlanta Falcons, a team that has won two straight games. That’s what makes the latest injury news surrounding wide receiver Zay Flowers and cornerback Marlon Humphrey so welcome in Baltimore.
Zay Flowers has been dealing with injuries since training camp and is listed as questionable for Sunday night’s game against the Falcons. However, ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported that Flowers is expected to play in Week 5 despite dealing with a foot injury.
Humphrey’s status also trended in the right direction, and that matters a great deal given how the Falcons’ offense has looked over the last two weeks.
Zay Flowers’ Week 4 performance offers plenty of reason for optimism
It remains to be seen how many snaps Flowers will play against the Falcons. The good news is he logged 47 snaps, or 73.4%, against the Tennessee Titans in Week 4, even though he was dealing with a hamstring injury heading into that game.
He didn’t just suit up, either. Flowers played well and finished with eight catches for 110 yards and a touchdown. That tells me the injury didn’t stop him from being the go-to option in the passing game, which is exactly what the Ravens need right now.
With Jackson out, quarterback Tyler “Snoop” Huntley will lead the way under center. Huntley and Flowers have had some chances to build chemistry in live game action in the past. Still, it remains to be seen just how quickly the two get on the same page on Sunday night.
Still, based on what we’ve seen from Flowers so far in 2026, the odds are he’s going to be just fine and should help Huntley make some plays through the air. Having a reliable target to lean on can go a long way for a backup quarterback, and Flowers has more than proven he can be that guy even when he isn’t at 100%.
Marlon Humphrey’s update is big news against a red-hot Falcons offense
The Humphrey news might be even more important for Baltimore, because Atlanta’s offense has been on a tear.
The Falcons put up 35 points against the Green Bay Packers in Week 3, then went out and rolled the New Orleans Saints 45-24 in Week 4. Bijan Robinson has been the engine of that attack, racking up an insane amount of yards (360) and touchdowns (4) over that two-game span.
The passing game has looked sharp too, with quarterback Michael Penix Jr. back behind center. Wide receiver Drake London is one of the better receivers in the entire NFL, and he gives Penix a true No. 1 option who can win at all three levels of the field.
As a whole, the Atlanta offense has been on point and shows no signs of slowing down heading into Sunday night. That’s a tall order for any defense, let alone one that could have been missing one of its top cornerbacks. Having Humphrey’s experience and physicality in the secondary gives defensive coordinator Zach Orr more flexibility when it comes to matching up with London and keeping Penix from getting comfortable.
Ravens have a chance to keep rolling without Lamar Jackson
Overall, these are two big wins for the Ravens as they look to improve to 4-1. Losing Jackson for any stretch is a gut punch, and nobody is pretending Baltimore is the same team without its franchise quarterback.
But the Ravens don’t need Huntley to be Jackson. They need him to take care of the football, lean on his playmakers, and let the defense do its part. Getting Flowers on the field gives Huntley his most dangerous weapon, while Humphrey’s presence gives the defense a much better shot at slowing down one of the hottest offenses in the league.
Now it’s about execution. If Baltimore can contain Robinson and make Penix work for everything he gets, the Ravens have a real opportunity to steal a win without their star quarterback.
