The good news for the Jacksonville Jaguars? They look like one of the best teams in the AFC this season. And, with a bye week this week, the team has a chance to get healthy.

The bad news? Jacksonville is taking a loss this weekend despite not having a game on the schedule. And one player in particular? His effort to start getting healthy is in vain — as his injury situation just went from bad to worse. Standout left tackle Anton Harrison has been diagnosed with an ACL tear, per Ian Rapoport. The full extent of Harrison’s knee injury was only discovered once Harrison was under the knife.

This is a blow for Jacksonville, who had been hoping that Harrison could get his knee cleaned up and start healing for a 2026 return. That, obviously, is out of the cards now. It leaves the Jaguars’ offensive line a bit strained for depth — and will introduce some questions about if Jacksonville can land some insurance before next month’s NFL trade deadline.

They should certainly explore their options. Jacksonville has been aggressive with this regime to continue churning the line and keep enough bodies on the roster.

As things currently stand, Jacksonville has just eight offensive lineman on the 53-man roster — and limited options to play at tackle if either Walker Little or Cole Van Lanen were to suffer an injury. Patrick Mekari looms on reserve as possible reinforcements, but he underwent back surgery in August and hasn’t logged any time this season. Betting on him to be the savior for more depth could be risky. Jacksonville now has time to assess their options on the market. And with more than two weeks before the deadline, they have time to place some calls. While that is a win, it certainly pales in comparison to the official loss of Harrison for the rest of the year.
