Cincinnati has signed Sample to a three-year deal.
Sample, a second-round pick from the 2019 NFL Draft, found new life with the team after re-signing with that drafted him last year on a one-year, $1.1 million deal. He continued his work as an inline blocking tight end, and even as a pass protector in the backfield out of the shotgun.
While he's never been much of a receiving option at the position, Sample's value is no longer than of a dynamic all-around tight end. He provides some long-term stability as a key member of the position group, and a revered member of the locker room.
$10.5 million over three years is solid TE2 money. The Bengals will continue to build out the tight end room in free agency and potentially the NFL Draft.
