Florida Gators head coach Jon Sumrall has been on a recruiting heater over the last week.

He landed commitments from the No. 4 overall player in five-star offensive lineman Maxwell Hiller, and the No. 12 quarterback in four-star Davin Davidson. Plus, they were set to host multiple prospects for the game, including the No. 1 overall recruit in Texas Tech Red Raiders commit in defensive lineman Jalen Brewster.

Just after the end of the spring game, the Gators received their sixth commitment in cornerback Aamaury Fountain, who flipped from the South Carolina Gamecocks.

Florida Gators land commitment from CB Aamaury Fountain

This is a massive commitment for the Gators. Rivals has Fountain as a four-star recruit ranked No. 25 overall, and the fourth among cornerbacks. Standing at 6-3 and 182 pounds, Fountain has a fascinating amount of size in his profile, which is a major advantage to his game.

His scouting report from Rivals’ Charles Power highlights a major riser in the recruiting process and an elite mover.

Aamuary Fountain is a big riser at corner. I think you have to start with just his combination of size, length, and fluidity and coverage. Really a natural mover, flips his hips with ease, and is just highly effective as a cover man. Based on what we’ve seen, there’s considerable high-end physical traits just with his frame and stature and functional movement skills that we see on film. We felt like he was one of the better corners that we evaluated in this update.

That kind of size and length is a major advantage in zone coverage, but being a very fluid mover highlights an even rarer package. Plus, being able to snipe him from South Carolina is a big deal.

The Gators now have six commitments for the 2027 recruiting class.
