It’s been a really good recruiting week for Florida Gators head coach Jon Sumrall, and it just got better.

Four-star quarterback from Sarasota, Florida, Davin Davidson, announced his commitment to the Gators on Thursday night, landing them the second top-150 recruit in 24 hours, as five-star offensive lineman Maxwell Hiller committed on Wednesday night.

Florida Gators land four-star QB Davin Davidson

It’s a huge win for the Gators to land Davidson, giving them a quarterback to continue building up the depth at the most important position on the field. He is the 132nd-ranked overall recruit and the 12th-ranked quarterback per the Rivals’ Industry Ranking. At 6-6 and 215 pounds, Davidson has the size and movement skills you want to see from a talented recruit.

Davidson isn’t just committing to the Gators; he also received an invite to the Elite 11 Finals. His scouting report from Rivals’ Charles Power is that of a talented player who can develop into a plus player.

Davin Davidson is another physically-talented 2027 passer who has seen his profile rise coming out of his junior season, as he helped Sarasota (Fla.) Cardinal Mooney to a state title. Davidson pairs immense size at around 6-foot-6, 215 pounds with a very live arm. He’s more of a fastball thrower right now and will need to continue adding nuance as a passer. The size, arm, and movement skills are very projectable and his physical upside has created a considerable buzz.
