Florida Gators head coach Jon Sumrall has been on fire when it comes to recruiting.

Over the last 48 hours, the Gators have landed commitments from five-star offensive lineman and No 4 overall recruit Maxwell Hiller and four-star quarterback Davin Davidson. Sumrall now have five commitments going into the spring game on Saturday afternoon, whereas his predecessor, Billy Napier, only had one.

That news hasn’t slowed down, with the Gators getting a special visitor for the spring game.

Florida Gators hosting No. 1 overall Jalen Brewster for second time

The top overall recruit in the country is five-star defensive lineman Jalen Brewster, and he is back in Gainesville for a second visit.

Before the hiring of Sumrall, the Gators weren’t in the picture for Brewster. Once Sumrall got the job, they got into the picture, including landing a visit on March 6th at the beginning of spring practice. They impressed him so much that Brewster returned to campus. The Texas Tech Red Raiders commit has made just one other visit since his last trip to Gainesville: March 27th in Lubbock, Texas.

“I would say the energy of the practice and the way the players bond with each other stood out,” Jalen Brewster told Gators Online after his first visit. “I can see the coaches are trying to change the program from last year. They had bad seasons, so they’re trying to rebuild Florida to make it become what they want it to be. I liked seeing how the players go out there and play like brothers. You can hear some of the players say how they’d die for my team. That’s the stuff I love.”

Getting him back is a huge win for Sumrall. If they can continue to chip away with Brewster, a flip isn’t out of the question. Two visits within five weeks is a big deal.
