The Georgia Bulldogs lost out on 2027 four-star safety Jayden Aparicio-Bailey, who committed to the Clemson Tigers.

The 6’2, 195-pound safety out of Prattville, Alabama, chose Clemson over Georgia, Auburn, Florida, and South Carolina. Aparicio-Bailey holds a 91.36 composite rating on Rivals Industry, ranking as the No. 117 player in the country, the No. 10 safety nationally, and the No. 4 prospect in the state of Alabama.

Aparicio-Bailey announced his commitment on social media, writing, “I’m all in, Clemson family.”

Aparicio-Bailey’s recruitment came down to 3 schools

When you look at Aparicio-Bailey’s visit history, his top three were obvious. He took 11 visits to Auburn, which makes sense given the proximity to Prattville. He made nine visits to Clemson and nine to Georgia. The Tigers ultimately won out, and the Bulldogs are still searching for their first safety commitment in the 2027 class.

Georgia won’t be devastated by this loss. The Bulldogs’ class is still in solid shape overall, sitting at No. 16 nationally and No. 8 in the SEC with two five-stars and six four-stars. But Aparicio-Bailey is a high-end prospect, and his commitment to Clemson stings because Georgia doesn’t have a safety in this class yet. They also need a few more corners.

Georgia has options, but the clock is ticking

The Bulldogs have been looking at several safeties still on the board. Ta’Shawn Poole appears to be down to Florida State or Georgia. Davion Jones seems to have narrowed his list to South Carolina, Clemson, and Georgia. Then there’s Adryan Cole, a four-star safety out of Douglasville, Georgia, who is currently projected to land with the Bulldogs. A few other names are in the mix as well, including Seth Williams and Rashaad Silver.

Georgia is projected to land two more safeties before the cycle wraps up, and Cole feels like the most likely commitment of the bunch. But projections and commitments are two different things. It’s impossible to predict exactly what will happen in recruiting, and that’s the only reason losing Bailey matters as much as it does. The Bulldogs don’t have a single safety committed, and every miss makes the margin thinner. We will have to see how it all shakes out, but Georgia needs to close on at least one of these remaining targets soon.
