Notre Dame football moves one step closer to landing local five-star offensive superstar that every major program wants
Notre Dame football continuing to push hard for local five-star playmaker.
Fresh off his return visit to Notre Dame for its matchup against the USC Trojans last weekend, 2027 Indianapolis (Ind.) Lawrence North five-star wide receiver Monshun Sales released his updated top schools list. The Fighting Irish were listed among his 12 finalists, taking one step closer to potentially landing the Indiana native in the end.
Notre Dame was joined on the list by Ohio State, Alabama, Oregon, Michigan, LSU, Tennessee, Ole Miss, Miami, Texas A&M, Missouri, and Indiana. That’s a diverse collection of some of the best programs in college football.
Monshun Sales’ recruiting background
Sales was a good player as a sophomore for Lawrence North in 2024, but he has been a dominant force as a junior. In nine games, he has managed to haul in 35 receptions for 782 yards and nine touchdowns. That is a stellar average of 22.3 yards per reception, showcasing his uncommon ability to create big plays.
The 6-5, 195-pound pass catcher is considered a five-star player on multiple of the major recruiting platforms. 247 Sports is highest on Sales, rating him as the No. 5 overall player, the No. 1 wide receiver, and the No. 1 player from the state of Indiana for the 2027 recruiting class. The composite ranking has him pegged as the No. 12 overall player in the class as well.
It shouldn’t be much of a surprise that Sales has been offered by nearly 40 different programs so far. Outside of his finalists, some of the other programs that have offered the Indiana superstar include Oklahoma, Penn State, Florida, Auburn, Nebraska, Florida State, Louisville, Kentucky, Arkansas, Pittsburgh, Arizona State, Illinois, Vanderbilt, West Virginia, Wisconsin, Maryland, Michigan State, Colorado, Kansas, Syracuse, and Purdue, among several others.
As of today, Notre Dame isn’t the leader for Sales, but the Irish staff isn’t going away. The vibes are solid following his return visit to South Bend this past weekend, and it feels like the Irish continue to chip away at the leaderboard. It’s funny to call Notre Dame a bit of a dark horse, but that’s exactly what it is right now.
Over the years, Notre Dame has been seeking more and more impact players who do their best work to the boundary. You can’t teach the size and speed combination that Sales possesses. They won’t slow down their pursuit of Sales, and you can be sure that head coach Marcus Freeman, offensive coordinator Mike Denbrock, and wide receivers coach Mike Brown will keep pressing until the very end, one step at a time.
