Notre Dame football has been riding a ton of momentum recently in the 2027 recruiting class. With commitments from quarterback Champ Monds and talented safeties Zayden Gamble and John Gay, things don’t appear to be slowing down anytime soon for head coach Marcus Freeman and the Fighting Irish.

Most Notre Dame fans know who the top 2027 targets are for the most part. There are, however, several intriguing targets that the Irish staff seems to be much higher on than some, including the major recruiting platforms. That includes three-star Littleton (Co.) Valor Christian wide receiver Jackson Coleman

A recent visitor in South Bend, things have been moving quickly between Notre Dame and Coleman. Before Freeman and Co. offered him a few weeks ago, Oregon was the assumed leader for the talented pass catcher. The Irish have quickly flipped the script in their favor.

Now considered the team to beat for Coleman, it appears that Notre Dame could get this one done some time in the near future. Steve Wiltfong from Rivals recently logged an expert prediction for Coleman to land with the Fighting Irish. There’s a ton of confidence coming in for the folks in South Bend.

While Coleman is a very talented player, there is some boom or bust feel to his game, which is why it’s so important that Notre Dame lands a higher floor player like Julius Jones Jr. in the class. With the rawness that Coleman brings to the table, he could either become a breakout on the next level, or fail to make an impact. He would be a fun depth piece as a developmental pass catcher.

Putting together a balanced overall wide receiver class will be key.

Jackson Coleman’s recruiting background

Coleman is considered to be a three-star player by each of the major recruiting platforms. On the 247 Sports Composite ranking, he currently rates as the No. 822 overall player, the No. 102 wide receiver, and the No. 4 player from the state of Colorado in the 2027 recruiting class. Odds are that those rankings will begin to rise.

While his rankings might not be overly impressive, Coleman is putting together a fantastic offer list. Some of the top schools that have offered him so far include the Fighting Irish, Oregon, Michigan, Miami, Missouri, Colorado, Utah, Vanderbilt, Kansas State, Minnesota, Stanford, Cal, Northwestern, Oregon State, Washington State, Syracuse, and Purdue, among others.

After not making much of an impact as a sophomore, Coleman put together a tremendous junior season in 2025. In 13 games, the 6-3, 195-pound pass catcher managed to haul in 45 receptions for 975 yards and nine touchdowns, an average of 21.7 yards per reception. His combination of size, length, and long speed brings a lot of intrigue to the table.
