The Ohio State Buckeyes had a very stressful signing day a couple of weeks ago with offensive coordinator Brian Hartline taking his first head coaching gig at the same time.

Ohio State lost two key members of their 2026 recruiting class that week between four-star WR Kayden Dixon-Wyatt and four-star ATH Legend Bey from Texas. Well, the Buckeyes could be on the edge of getting one of those players back.

Latest update on Legend Bey is promising for the Buckeyes

Ohio State was able to flip Bey from Tennessee back on Nov. 10 but he ended up signing with the Tennessee Volunteers on Dec. 3 in a shocking move. There are multiple reports out there that allege that Bey never wanted to go to Tennessee, that it was more so his mother and family pushing for that to happen. Now, Bey has requested his release from Tennessee.

“They have requested their letter of release from Tennessee and they are waiting for Tennessee to confirm this,” On3’s Sam Spiegelman said on Monday. “This could come as early as today, as early as tomorrow. This is in the works, whether it was his mother or somebody else who forged his signature, Tennessee got a signature on national signing day. They got the flip done at the buzzer, however, it does look like they’re going to get out of this. This is going to be another flip, potentially, in the works for Tennessee and what we’re assuming is Ohio State.”

Bey is a tremendous athlete at 5-foot-10, 175 pounds who plays quarterback for his high school team in Forney, Texas. Ohio State sees Bey as an offensive weapon sort of in the same vein as Curtis Samuel was in Columbus. Bey has the ability to be a pass catcher and take touches out of the backfield. Bey has posted a 10.23 time in the 100 meters and that just goes to show his speed.

Once Bey is released from his signing, which is expected to happen, the Buckeyes are the favorite to land him. Of course, this could change at any time and new schools could come into the mix. But it sounds like as wild a recruitment as you’ll hear of is soon to be over.
