Cat is out of the bag regarding how former Ohio State WR Mylan Graham ended up at Notre Dame via the transfer portal
Mylan Graham chose to transfer to Notre Dame and now it’s become more clear how the former Ohio State football wideout landed with the Fighting Irish.
The Ohio State Buckeyes underwent plenty of change within the program this offseason between the coaching staff and players. Brian Hartline’s departure didn’t lead to the Buckeyes losing any starters, but they did lose several depth wideouts from the roster.
Mylan Graham and Quincy Porter are two former Buckeyes wideouts who both decided to transfer to play for the Notre Dame Fighting Irish. Graham and Porter are entering their junior and sophomore seasons in college with little to no usage to this point, but their roles should take a big step forward with Notre Dame this coming fall.
Mylan Graham’s decision to transfer to Notre Dame has become clearer
When players hit the transfer portal they’re looking for more playing time, bigger paydays, or a more comfortable spot to allow them to develop. Graham needed a spot where he was going to have a clear path to play.
Notre Dame safety Tae Johnson played a part in making the transfer to Notre Dame happen.
“I first met [Mylan] in Metro Pee-Wee League when I was seven or eight years old,” Johnson said. “He went to New Haven, then in high school, we started training together with Dre Muhammed. When he hit the transfer portal, I called him and told him to check out the school.”
I was telling him we could definitely use you and add to our offense that already has a lot of weapons. Getting him here and letting him get to campus, meet the campus, and know the vibe. After that, it was his decision.”
Mylan Graham has a chance to break out in 2026
With how it played out, Graham took Johnson up on the offer to come and check out Notre Dame. It ended up being a fit for the Indiana native to get the chance to go and play under a good head coach with Marcus Freeman. Graham and Johnson both grew up in the Fort Wayne, Indiana area, and the fit matched up for Graham to join a friend at the college level.
While at Ohio State, Graham played in 13 games over two seasons for the Buckeyes after being a five-star recruit in the class of 2024. The former Buckeye had six catches for 93 yards while in Columbus and was never able to crack real playing time in a deep wide receiver room.
Graham is a player who has the talent to be a really good wide receiver who creates explosive plays when he gets the ball in his hands. Don’t be surprised if he ends up having a solid 2026 season for Notre Dame when it’s all said and done.
