All eyes will be on Ohio State and Oregon this week as the two teams meet for the first time as Big Ten opponents.

It will be No. 2 Ohio State traveling to Eugene, Oregon to face off with the No. 3 Ducks. We will get a look at perhaps the two best teams in the Big Ten and maybe even the country.

Ahead of the game, Oregon head coach Dan Lanning is showing he has some respect for this 2024 Buckeyes team.

“Getting to play a great opponent this week,” said Lanning. “(They’re) strong in all three phases. As a team, when you watch them, you really don’t see a weakness. They’re really strong across the board. This will be a great challenge for us.”

Both teams are 5-0 and while the Buckeyes have not been tested yet, the Ducks have. Oregon beat Boise State 37-34 in Week 2 and only beat Idaho 24-14 to begin the season. Ohio State’s closest game so far was a 35-7 win over Iowa

The last time these two teams met was 2021 and the Ducks won that game by a score of 35-28. This season, the Buckeyes are a -3 favorite on the road, according to most sports books.

Ohio State’s biggest test yet and possibly of the season is one that will take a complete performance. Ohio State needs a good showing on offense, defense, and special teams to be able to win this one. Any self-inflicted miscues will likely prove to be costly.

Lanning knows the Buckeyes are loaded. He is a very good coach himself and has the Oregon program in a premier spot. Saturday should be a classic for sure.
