Ohio State Buckeyes are trying to hand Penn State another big loss days after blowing them out in Big Ten play
It would be quite the recruiting win for Ohio State.
The Ohio State Buckeyes didn’t just need a strong showing on Saturday because Penn State was in town — they also had a big recruiting weekend with numerous prospects visiting to watch the game. Ohio State took care of business against the Nittany Lions the way the No. 1 team in the country should, rolling to a 38–14 win.
Ohio State currently holds 22 commitments in its 2026 recruiting class, which ranks No. 9 nationally per 247Sports. There’s still work to be done, though, as the Buckeyes have multiple flip targets they’d like to add. One of the most notable was on campus Saturday, watching Ohio State dominate the team he’s currently committed to.
Ohio State in good standing with major Penn State commit
2026 four-star offensive tackle Kevin Brown is a top target for the Buckeyes, and they may have a real chance to land him following the firing of James Franklin at Penn State. Brown, an in-state recruit, has been committed to the Nittany Lions since July 2024, but he’s now giving Ohio State a serious look.
“It was awesome,” Brown said of his visit, via Rivals. “They had everything for me. They treated me like a king. They’re the best team in the nation for a reason. The facilities are top-tier. Their coaching staff is beyond the best. The player development is unmatched.”
The Buckeyes already have Sam Greer and Aaron Thomas as their top two offensive tackle commits in the 2026 class, though there are rumors that Thomas could end up flipping. Replacing him with the higher-rated Brown would be a strong move. Brown is ranked as the No. 6 offensive tackle and the No. 61 overall player in the 2026 class, per the 247Sports Composite. The 6-foot-5, 270-pound lineman also visited West Virginia earlier last week before making the trip to Columbus.
Ohio State also has Maxwell Riley in the 2026 class, though he’s projected to play guard, and Landry Brede may do the same. Landing a tackle like Brown to pair with Greer would give offensive line coach Tyler Bowen a very strong group in his first full recruiting cycle with the Buckeyes. Brown is now working on setting up an official visit to Columbus following this past weekend’s unofficial visit—a key development for Ohio State. If the Buckeyes can get the Penn State commit back on campus for an official, their chances of flipping him increase significantly.
