Sooners could be close to landing another elite TE in the 2027 recruiting class shortly after grabbing the No. 1 TE in Seneca Driver
The Oklahoma Sooners are putting together an elite recruiting class for 2027, and their work on offense is starting to put people on notice.
The Oklahoma Sooners have made a big impression on local high school tight end Ben Kolar. The 2027 four-star tight end attends Norman North and just finished his junior season with 653 receiving yards and four touchdowns.
Kolar is a tight end everyone seems to want, as is apparent by all of the recent visits he’s taken. However, he recently visited the school in his backyard again, and it’s clear the Sooners could be a team he plays for in 2027.
“The visit went really well,” Kolar told Rivals. “I loved the depth of Coach (Jason) Witten’s coaching and was very impressed with the room. They are definitely one of my top schools. The closeness to my home would make it super easy for my parents as well.”
The work the Sooners have recently done in turning around their tight end room seems to be a big factor in all of this.
“I think the offense will run through the tight end more this year, which is appealing,” Kolar said.
And, Kolar is not the only elite tight end the Sooners like. They already have one committed.
Sooners could have two blue-chip tight ends if Kolar commits to OU
Not long ago, during Future Freaks Weekend, the Sooners landed the No. 1 tight end in the country in Seneca Driver. He’s a 6’6, 240-pound, and the No. 49th player in the country. If they land Kolar, they’ll have the No. 1 tight end and No. 19 tight end in the same class.
It’s safe to say that new tight ends coach Jason Witten is putting in some crazy work in the recruiting trenches.
“Coach Witten is just a fantastic coach,” Kolar continued. “His coaching just reveals the depth of his football knowledge. I loved the 12 personnel Oklahoma was running, too. I would be a great fit for their culture and their offense.”
