Depending on the recruiting site, the Oklahoma Sooners retain the No. 1 class for 2027. They aim to continue this into the 2028 class, which any team would want.

The 2028 class doesn’t have a commitment yet. Now, it’s early, very early, but they would probably like to get that done soon. They did have one in 2028, just not anymore. The Sooners had a shocking development this offseason. Losing RB coach DeMarco Murray means they lost their No. 1 RB recruit in the 2028 recruiting class, Micah Rhodes.

While they don’t yet have a commitment for the 2028 recruiting class, it feels like there’s already an early emphasis on the offensive line. Earlier this week, the Sooners sent out an offer to an offensive lineman in the 2028 recruiting class. Now, they’ve found themselves inside the top six for the No. 2 player in the 2028 recruiting class.

According to Hayes Fawcett, the Sooners are among Jalanie George’s top six schools in his recruitment. They stand alongside other elite schools such as Auburn, Ohio State, Washington, Florida, and Miami. The Sooners would be lucky and blessed to land George over those schools. But who is Jalanie George?

Who is Jalanie George, the No. 2 overall recruit in 2028?

As stated earlier, George is the No. 2 overall player in the Rivals 2028 rankings. He’s an edge rusher from Arizona, so pretty much every single team in his top six would have him going pretty far away from home. The 6’5, 240-pound edge rusher looks like he could play in the SEC right now in terms of his size. However, size won’t help you be successful—there are so many other factors at play.

George could be a player who could play his first year, though. When you are a team and program like the Sooners, you have a great history of sending edge rushers to the NFL high in the draft. Recently, it’s been Nik Bonitto and R Mason Thomas. George could be the next one, who knows?
