Spring football practice is underway, and there will be so many things we all overreact to.

Spring football is here in college football. With that, it means teams’ social media accounts, or media members, will begin posting practice videos any day now, if they haven’t already.

This is pretty much the closest thing we will have to actual football until fall camp, which is just before the next season starts. So, yes, we are going to overreact to these videos, just like we do every single season. Here at A to Z Sports, we are all about having fun in the offseason. So, why not throw out a few videos we know are coming and get ahead of the curve? Five of our college football beat writers came up with what they think will be the biggest spring football propaganda from their team this spring.

Spring Football Propaganda

Sooners – The first video of John Mateer making an impressive throw

The Oklahoma Sooners were the talk of the town this time last season. They landed the No. 1 player in the transfer portal in Mateer, and the hype for him only grew with every social media post the Sooners’ official X account posted. However, when the season came, he underperformed massively. With some of his IQ issues, footwork, and a broken hand, he played poorly. Heading into his final season, he’s poised to be a big reason the Sooners are going to be competitive. He’s, for some reason, drawn comparisons to guys like Baker Mayfield. You just know that first video of him throwing a dart in practice is going to do numbers. — Justin Churchill, A to Z Sports Oklahoma

Gators – Any reps of true freshman Heze Kent at TE

The Gators have a lot of interesting storylines going into the spring and the 2026 season, from who replaces DJ Lagway as the starting quarterback to Jon Sumrall taking over for Billy Napier to the superstar wide receivers on the outside. Even with all of these, there is one player everyone wants to see more of: true freshman TE Heze Kent. He’s not your normal tight end, but a 6-8, 313-pound behemoth of a player who could be the next Darnell Washington. We got our first look during the initial practice of the Sumrall era, and he looked like a Monstar. With tight end being an unknown position, Kent could make an impact in year one. – Tyler Forness, A to Z Sports Florida Gators

Ohio State – Chris Henry Jr. makes a one-handed catch over a defender

Ohio State had a ton of turnover on the roster through the transfer portal, especially in depth. At the wide receiver position specifically, the only two returning players in the rotation are Jeremiah Smith and Brandon Inniss. The Buckeyes brought in a pair of transfers with Devin McCuinn from UTSA and Kyle Parker from LSU, and both players will compete for playing time in 2026.

But the most significant addition to the room is Chris Henry Jr., and he’ll be a player to watch this spring as he gets acclimated to the college level. The Buckeyes are going to lean on him to be a part of their offense this fall — and I wouldn’t be surprised if he’s already making highlight plays this spring. I’m calling it now — Henry Mosses, a freshman or transfer, in the corner of the end zone at some point over the next month. — Brandon Little, A to Z Sports Ohio State Buckeyes

Notre Dame – CJ Carr makes a deep throw TD to Mylan Graham (bonus if he’s against Leonard Moore)

Heading into the 2026 college football season, Notre Dame quarterback CJ Carr is going to have a lot of high expectations for what he should accomplish. The second-year starting signal caller showed a lot of great signs in 2025, and many now expect him to ascend to being one of the very best in the country. Fighting Irish fans will not only want to see Carr air it out, but also see some big plays from the new Ohio State transfers. With Quincy Porter out for the spring with an injury, that leaves Mylan Graham as the big play option and new toy. If Graham is able to create an explosive play against All-American cornerback Leonard Moore, it would go viral everywhere. It would also be a great sign for what 2026 could bring. – Ryan Roberts, A to Z Sports Notre Dame Fighting Irish

Alabama – The first time Keelon Russell throws a deep touchdown to Ryan Williams

Right now, the Alabama Crimson Tide is heading into spring ball with a QB competition on its hands. Austin Mack will be entering year four in the Kalen DeBoer system, having followed him from Seattle to Tuscaloosa. He was Ty Simpson’s backup last year and the man who replaced a battered Simpson in the Rose Bowl. He’s assumed to be the man who receives first dibs, but this will be a true competition with five-star Keelon Russell waiting in the wings.

For Russell, this is his chance to show that he is truly wise beyond his years in terms of football intelligence. The elite traits pale in comparison to everything you hear about him as a lightning-quick processor and high-IQ player. He will be the favorite coming out of the spring and heading into fall camp, and the first time he hooks up with Ryan Williams, it will be a spectacle. – Rob Gregson, A to Z Sports Alabama Crimson Tide
