Texas coach Steve Sarkisian wasn’t trying to avoid the question Monday about Quinn Ewers and Kelvin Banks’s ankle injuries. He’s simply not sure how the week will progress.
Sarkisian said his starting quarterback and left tackle will have to undergo “a bit of a process” to get ready for Saturday’s SEC championship game against Georgia.
Ewers did practice on Monday morning, but as for his mobility and usefulness, “It’ll be similar to last week,” Sarkisian said.

Ewers suffered an ankle injury with a hip-drop tackle against Kentucky. He struggled to move in practice the week leading up to the Texas A&M game but was mobile enough against the Aggies in a 17-7 win.
Sarkisian called upon backup Arch Manning to use the quarterback run game on Saturday. Manning had a dazzling 15-yard touchdown run where he carried the ball over the pylon for the score.
Asked if similar plays could be used against Georgia, Sarkisian smiled and said, “Maybe.”
“We’re going to run stuff Saturday that we haven’t run all year because of who we are as a team now,” Sarkisian said. “There’s always things that we’re going to do that are new.”
Banks is a projected first-round NFL draft pick. He left the A&M game early after being accidentally leg-whipped by a defender. Backup Trevor Goosby entered the game and posted excellent pass-blocking grades, according to Pro Football Focus.
