"I'm upset, but I'm happy for him," said Dallas Cowboys QB Dak Prescott earlier in the year when asked about the departure of offensive coordinator Kellen Moore.

The two had built a relationship that started off as teammates in 2016 and quickly became a coach-player partnership as Moore made his way up the ladder and Dak established himself as the franchise quarterback.

Naturally, the two will miss each other. But it goes well beyond what happens on-field.

"The personal side is probably unique," Kellen Moore told Todd Archer from ESPN during the NFL Scouting Combine. "I was with Dak his entire career."

The former Cowboys OC then dropped the ultimate praise you can ask for as a leader of men in the NFL.

"I think he's a guy that everyone looks up to on the team and I think across the league now," Moore added. "I think winning the Walter Payton award is such a cool moment to see."

"He's a really special person."

As these two reach an amicable divorce, they find themselves in intriguing positions. Both were the forces behind one of the most productive offenses in the NFL since Moore took over.

In fact, the Cowboys were second in the NFL in yards and points since Moore took over as OC. They trailed only the Kansas City Chiefs in that span.

And yet, Prescott and Moore could find themselves in a position to have even more success in their new respective circumstances. Moore will coach Justin Herbert, one of the best arm talents in the league.

Meanwhile, Prescott will get "new and different voices" in his ear, which could help him grow as a quarterback as he nears 30 years of age.

The Cowboys quarterback has been operating on a very similar offensive scheme since he entered the league.

Now, Mike McCarthy will call the plays. He's expected to install his West Coast offense, as well. Although he's mentioned he doesn't expect a complete overhaul, it's clear the philosophy will change.

Surely, Dak and Kellen will be rooting for each other from afar. Except for one weekend in the 2023 season, when both will face each other in Los Angeles.
