One is for certain, the Dallas Cowboys have stockpiled their roster with edge rushers, especially with the re-signing of Dante Fowler on Tuesday.
In today's NFL though, no team can have too many bodies when it comes to getting after the quarterback, and Cowboys' defensive coordinator Dan Quinn is in the lab trying to give his unit another piece.
The mastermind of the Cowboys' turnaround defensively was at Iowa State's Pro Day, and he was seen working with Will McDonald, one of the draft's top edge prospects.
McDonald appeared in three games for the Cyclones as a true freshman in 2018 but decided to redshirt the rest of the season. After six sacks and six tackles for loss a year later, McDonald's collegiate career took off.
He would be named a first-team All-Big 12 performer in each of his last three seasons which included a Co-Defensive Lineman of the Year honor in 2021. McDonald logged 125 tackles (40.5 tackles for loss), 34 sacks, 10 forced fumbles, and seven passes defended over his college career.
The Cowboys are in a position to take the best player available with the 26th overall pick with their signings and trades over the last week. Quinn had his eye on Sam Williams this time a year ago, and the Cowboys took him in the second round.
So, keeping an eye on McDonald would be smart when it comes to Dallas.
