All-Pro free agent would be interested in signing with Cowboys
The eight-time Pro Bowler mentioned the Cowboys as a possible destination in 2023.
The Dallas Cowboys, as usual, aren't expected to be big players during the first wave of free agency this week.
Dallas will more than likely wait until next week to do anything worth talking about as far as bringing in outside guys, and one of them that could be available mentioned the Cowboys on Monday.
Eight-time Pro Bowl, cornerback Patrick Peterson, was recently on ESPN's Adam Schefter podcast, and he said that the Cowboys are a team he'd be interested in playing for in 2023.
"I like the Cowboys, I like what they have going on," said Paterson. "I love Stefon, not Stefon, Tre(von) Diggs. I love what he brings to the table. I think he can use, you know, some guidance and some help along the way to kind of help continue to flourish his career.
The Cowboys could use more help at the cornerback position.
Anthony Brown and Jourdan Lewis suffered season-ending injuries last season. The former is an unrestricted free agent and the latter has just one more year left on his deal.
The Cowboys grabbing Peterson would be an immediate upgrade or either Brown or Lewis. Plus, putting him with Diggs and DaRon Bland, who led the Cowboys with five interceptions as a rookie in 2022, would have Dallas sitting pretty nice at the cornerback spot with an opportunity to add more in next month's draft.
After spending his first 10 seasons with the Arizona Cardinals, Peterson has spent the last two with the Minnesota Vikings, and last season he showed that he still has what it takes to perform at a high level.
Peterson set a career-high in tackles with 66. He also has his second-highest marks in interceptions (5) and passes defended (15).
Going into his 13th season, Peterson likely won't be snagged early in the free agency bonanza which fits how the Cowboys do business this time of year.
