Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott looks up at Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow in every possible quarterback rankings that you pull up on your phone. But that doesn't mean he can't offer some advice to the fourth-year quarterback.

After all, Prescott has eight years in the NFL and experience is invaluable. Well, it so happens that Dak has been exactly where Joe is at this exact moment: Recovering from a calf strain in training camp.

"Be patient, it's training camp," Prescott told reporters on Thursday when asked about advice for the Bengals quarterback via ESPN's Todd Archer. "A guy like that, you just need him for Game 1, really as the season gets going and the meat of the season, just be patient."

Prescott was in the same spot back in 2021, one year after suffering an ankle fracture, too. Obviously, every single rep matters. But what the Cowboys says fits his usual stoic-like approach to outside circumstances, just control what you can control.

"I know a guy like Joe is taking all of his mental reps, getting himself prepared," Prescott added. "That's what you need to do most in this game when you're not being physical. […] I guarantee (Burrow) has got the right approach to it and doing exactly that."

In 2020, the Bengals quarterback suffered a torn ACL as a rookie. And while that is obviously a much more devastating injury, it's also definitive. Tear your ACL and you're done for the year. A calf strain, although an easier, short-term injury, takes a different kind of patience. Even more so with the regular season on the horizon. The opportunity to get back on the field is always present and tempting.

Burrow's ice-cold style has earned him the nickname "Joey Brr" for a reason, though. He'll do things the right way. But some advice from Prescott, a renowned leader in the league, is nice to see.

The Bengals quarterback suffered a calf strain on July 27th and is expected to miss "several weeks," per Cincy's head coach Zac  Taylor.
