WR prospect gushes over the possibility of being drafted by the Cowboys
Cincinnati WR Tyler Scott didn’t hold back his excitement about the opportunity to play for the Cowboys
For the last several seasons, the Dallas Cowboys have been one of the better offenses in the NFL. However, they still need one thing, speed at the wide receiver position.
April's NFL draft is full of players that fit this mold for the Cowboys. One of them, Cincinnati wide receiver Tyler Scott, took the podium to answer questions on Thursday at the NFL combine, and when asked if he has spoken with the Cowboys, the speedster relayed this message.
"Might have in informals, I can't remember. But I haven't had a formal with them, but if not, I know I probably will tonight," said Scott, via Chat Sports.
Of course, after that answer, Scott was asked about what playing on the Cowboys' offense would be like.
"It would be fun, honestly," Scott said with a smile. "Dallas Cowboys, America's Team. I follow them, I follow all the teams, but following them, like I said, they had Amari Cooper. So, that was a team I definitely followed. Then, CeeDee Lamb, he's killing it. Michael Gallup, really good player."
Lamb was a monster last season with 107 receptions for 1,359 yards and nine touchdowns, solidifying his status as a No. 1 receiver. Gallup was coming off a torn ACL, and although he had some flashes, he wasn't the player he'd been in the past, but that's understandable coming back from that kind of injury in just nine months.
If Scott and his speed were to come to Dallas, it would give the Cowboys' offense a different dynamic, and give Lamb, plus a healthy Gallup, more favorable one-on-one matchups.
One bugaboo for the Cowboys' offense in 2022, quarterback Dak Prescott, in particular, was interceptions. Prescott missed five games with a broken thumb but still lead the NFL with 15.
This led to a lot of vitriol towards Prescott and even had some thinking the Cowboys should move on to another quarterback. Don't tell Scott that though, because he spoke very highly of the former Offensive Rookie of the Year.
"And then, Dak Prescott. You know, people talk so much about him, criticize him so much, but I think he's a great player," said Scott. "I think he holds his own at the position. I think he's a good leader as well. It'd just be a great person to learn under."
Scott could likely be on the board in the second round when the Cowboys pick at 58, and maybe even at 90 in the third. If the Cowboys haven't addressed the wide receiver spot by then, Scott should certainly be a guy to consider.
