One of the most exciting days of the NFL calendar is here: trade deadline day. While the Dallas Cowboys are unlikely to make a splash, it is often a day filled with speculation of players moving on to new teams.

Xavien Howard, Allen Robinson, Odell Beckham, and Kyle Fuller are a few of the bigger names that could be traded before Tuesday's 3 p.m. ET deadline. Melvin Ingram was traded by the Steelers to the Chiefs on Tuesday morning.

The biggest move — so far — is without a doubt the Rams trading for three-time All-Pro defender Von Miller. Los Angeles sent a second- and a third-round pick to the Denver Broncos in exchange for Miller on Monday.

Los Angeles is clearly all-in on hoisting the Lombardi in February. Therefore, the price wasn't too much for the Rams. That said, there looks to be a reason why the Rams had to give up multiple day-two selections for the 32-year old.

COWBOYS REPORTEDLY INQUIRED ABOUT MILLER

The Rams pretty much used up its remaining draft capital for 2022 in the move to acquire Miller. While Los Angeles has shown to not put much value in draft picks, not having many selections at all is still tough to swallow.

There looks to be a reason why the Rams were willing to part ways with multiple top-100 selections — beyond Miller's talent, of course. According to NFL Network's Peter Schrager, two other teams reached out to Denver about Miller.

Schrager is reporting that the Dallas Cowboys and the Buffalo Bills both called the Rams about potentially making a move for Von Miller. That likely created a bit of bidding war and drove the price up. The Rams, of course, did not mind paying up.

It makes sense that those three teams were all interested in making a move for a player of Miller's caliber. All three are legitimate Super Bowl contenders and are looking for a way to separate from some of the field. Miller, while not quite as dominant as he was in his prime, still has some juice.

In the end, the Cowboys do have DeMarcus Lawrence returning from IR soon. Randy Gregory has emerged in a big way. Even Micah Parsons adds a threat rushing from the edge. While Miller would have been a huge addition, Dallas likes what they have and are confident in the pieces set to return from injury.

COWBOYS UNLIKELY TO MAKE A MOVE

The reported interest in trading for Von Miller gives reason to believe that the Dallas Cowboys were interested in making a move prior to Tuesday afternoon's deadline. However, based on Jerry Jones' comments on Tuesday morning, it looks like that the Cowboys will stand pat.

The Cowboys could use an upgrade or depth at center, defensive line, and in the secondary. On the flip side, the team is expected to welcome back the likes of Lawrence, Michael Gallup, Neville Gallimore, and Trysten Hill to the field soon. Additionally, Dorance Armstrong and Kelvin Joseph were back in the fold versus the Vikings.

Dallas is in a position to be able to sit and wait for something to come to them rather than overpaying for a rental. The Cowboys are 6-1, have a ton of talent on the roster, and will add important pieces back from injury in the coming weeks. A move for somebody like Kyle Fuller or Xavien Howard is fun to think about. But, it is very unlikely.

Never say never with Jerry Jones and the Cowboys, but it appears like it will be a quiet trade deadline day in Dallas.
