Bijan Robinson is a GENERATIONAL RB Prospect: NFL Draft Film Breakdown
In this film breakdown, we take a look at former Texas Longhorns STUD RB Bijan Robinson.
After signing with the Longhorns as a 5-star in 2020, Robinson proceeded to run for nearly 3,500 yards over the next 3 seasons, while adding 800+ receiving yards and 41 total TDs. Robinson is seen as a generational talent and a "can't miss" running back prospect in this loaded 2023 NFL Draft class. Here, we break down his incredible skill set, where he sets himself apart, and where he will thrive in the NFL.
Strengths:
1. Excellent Receiving Back- Last season, Robinson tallied 314 yards on just 19 catches from the backfield, all while averaging a whopping 16.5 yards per catch. Robinson also stands atop all Texas running backs in career receiving touchdowns at eight.
2. Fast- Robinson has exceptional speed when he gets into space. He also runs a 4.49 40-yard dash.
3. Do-it-all Back- Robinson has the size to be on the field on all 3 downs, especially on the goal line. Robinson has a peak running back build, standing at 6'0 and weighing 221 pounds. He eclipsed 1,000 rushing yards in each of the last two seasons at Texas. Robinson was also the first freshman at Texas since Cedric Benson to lead the Longhorns in all-purpose yards.
Weaknesses:
1. Indecisive- Robinson is known to "overstay his welcome" in the backfield, as he sometimes struggles to find holes to run through. This is something that can and will be easily fixed in the NFL.
2. Chest catches- Occasionally, Robinson has been known to catch passes in his chest. He struggles in going to get the ball and oftentimes, waits for the ball to come to him. Again, this will be adjusted on whatever team the star running back winds up on.
3. Escapability- Bijan Robinson has very little negatives to his game, but occasionally he has a hard time escaping tackles past the first level.
