Texans add a double dose of talent to the offensive backfield
The Houston Texans’ recent free agency addition is a testament to the new coach.
The Houston Texans plan to sign FB/TE Andrew Beck, reported Peter Schrager from NFL Network. The news means the former Texas Longhorn is back in the Lone Star State.
Per Aaron Wilson from KPRC2, it's a two-year contract worth $6.75 million.
Beck went undrafted in 2019 and after a brief training camp stint with the New England Patriots, he landed with the Denver Broncos and spent four seasons there.
In 51 games played, he's caught 14 passes for 159 yards and one touchdown.
It's worth noting that with Bobby Slowik manning the offense, fullback could be a very relevant position for the Texans in 2022. It's one of the biggest staples of Kyle Shanahan's offense with the San Francisco 49ers.
Undrafted rookie Troy Hairston II switched to fullback last year for Houston and will compete with Beck this offseason. Whoever wins the battle at fullback could play a big role on this offense.
Texans signing RB Mike Boone
The Texans will reportedly sign 27-year-old running back Mike Boone to a two-year deal, too, per Aaron Wilson.
The former Minnesota Viking and Denver Bronco has 516 career rushing yards since 2018. He's also caught 18 passes for 146 receiving yards.
Boone played nine games for the Broncos last year.
