The Indianapolis Colts and Jonathan Taylor situation never sleeps, it seems.
Since the Colts allowed Taylor to begin searching for trade partners, multiple teams have reached out expressing their interest, but the team that has had the most fruitful conversations with the Colts so far is the Miami Dolphins.
Who made an offer to the Colts for Jonathan Taylor that has been since rejected by the Colts. The two sides remain in ongoing negotiations, but for a deal to get done, one side will have to budge, and from what I've been told, I'm not sure it'll be the Colts.
Barry Jackson of the Miami Herald called the Dolphins' offer to the Colts a "reasonable offer" via X (Twitter). And with the state of the RB market where it is and the situation between Taylor and the Colts looking uglier every day, I think his assessment is accurate. The problem is I've been told the Colts do not feel the same way.
A team source shared with me that the offer made by the Dolphins didn't meet that criteria and, in return, "Wasn't even entertained." This doesn't mean the offer wasn't reasonable. It just didn't meet the Colts asking price.
That price being a package that includes a 1st round pick or a bundle of picks that add up to that value. Typically, trade negotiations require compromises to be made by all clubs involved. The situation with the Colts is unique. As I've been told, the team, still through all the drama that has occurred this preseason between them and Taylor, does not want to trade their star RB.
Therefore, I find it hard to imagine the Colts compromise on their asking price to orchestrate a trade. I believe if they don't receive a package that fits their desired price, they will choose to keep Taylor and attempt to fix the relationship throughout the upcoming season. Because in contrary to some reporting on the subject, the Colts haven't told Taylor no on a possible extension; they've simply said not yet.
