Despite Kansas City Chiefs HC Andy Reid being fully entrenched in his prep for Super Bowl LVIII, rumors have been swirling about his future with the team.
Reid debunked those rumors last month, noting his full attention was on the here and now.
But following a report from Johnathan Jones of CBS Sports, Reid won't be going anywhere:
Reid Expected to Receive Pay Raise
Sources tell CBS Sports an extension is more likely than retirement heading into Reid's fifth Super Bowl appearance. Reid, one of the winningest coaches of all time, is in line to get a raise almost no matter the outcome of Sunday night's game. He signed a six-year extension after his first Super Bowl victory four years ago, and he has two years left on his current deal. -Jonathan Jones, CBS Sports
To be clear, no one around the organization has hinted that Reid will be stepping down, with a former scout during his time in Philly relaying to me, "No way he walks away with Patrick Mahomes at QB if everything is ok on the health front."
And Reid said as much ahead of the Dolphins playoff game when he noted that he was concerned with the present:
"I haven't even thought about that," Reid said in regards to retirement. "I'm thinking about one thing (The Dolphins). I figured that would come up as you guys were asking these questions because I'm old, but I'm not that old."
So win or loss, expect "Big Red" back on the sideline for the foreseeable future.
