In 2017, the Kansas City Chiefs took a flyer on a kid from Texas and actually wanted him so badly they traded up for him with the Buffalo Bills. Now that same "kid" is beating the Bills in the playoffs every season, it feels like, and has been to four of the last five Super Bowls.

That kid is obviously Patrick Mahomes, who has since taken the league by storm. By his first year, starting a full season, he was already the best player in the league. Now, he is preparing to win his third Super Bowl and cement the Chiefs while under him as a dynasty.

But, while they are prepping, some other news happened around the league. A guy who helped make Patrick Mahomes the quarterback he is today is now the enemy of the two-time MVP. I guess you could say it's a situation where Mahomes will keep his friends close but keep his enemies closer.

When he was at Texas Tech, Mahomes head coach was former Arizona Cardinals head coach Kliff Kingsbury. Last season, Kingsbury was fired, and the Cardinals brought in a new head coach while Kingsbury took a break and was on USC's staff down in Southern California. Now, Kingsbury is back in the NFL.

The man who helped shape Mahomes into the quarterback he is today is now with one of Mahomes' biggest enemies. Adam Schefter of ESPN reported on Thursday that the Las Vegas Raiders were hiring Kingsbury as their new offensive coordinator.

In other words, Mahomes will see his former head coach twice a year now.
