The national media vs Tennessee Vols fans might be the biggest rivalry going in sports these days.

Last month, several members of the national media took aim at Vol fans after various forms of trash were thrown onto the field near the end of Tennessee’s loss to Ole Miss.

Sports Illustrated’s Pat Forde, for example, called the UT fan base “petulant”.

The name-calling continued on Sunday during the Vols’ matchup against the North Carolina Tar Heels.

ESPN college basketball announcer Fran Fraschilla, who served as an assistant coach under Tennessee head coach Rick Barnes at Providence in the late 1980s/early 1990s, called Vol fans “idiots” during the broadcast on Sunday afternoon.

Fraschilla was discussing the pronunciation of Santiago Vescovi’s name.

As you can imagine, Vol fans have been lighting up Fraschilla on social media.

You come at the kings of Twitter, you best not miss.
