The Tennessee Vols could be getting some bad recruiting news in the not-so-distant future if On3 director of recruiting Chad Simmons is correct.

Simmons predicted on Tuesday that four-star offensive lineman Brycen Sanders will commit to Ole Miss.

Sanders, 6-foot-5/280 lbs from Chattanooga, TN, is ranked in 247Sports’ composite rankings as the No. 12 interior offensive lineman in the nation and the No. 5 player in the state of Tennessee.

The talented recruit visited the Vols late last month for the program’s “Rocky Top Palooza”, which was a weekend that featured numerous high-profile recruits visiting Tennessee.

Sanders told 247Sports after the visit that UT is “very close to the top” for him.

“Atmosphere was amazing,” said Sander after the visit. “Highlights were hanging with the coaches and all the recruits here. Definitely a super high amount of talent here.”

Simmons, who previously covered recruiting for Rivals.com, is well-connected in the recruiting world. If he thinks Sanders is destined for Ole Miss, then there’s a good chance that’s where the No. 5 player in the state of Tennessee lands.

Recruiting, however, is fluid. And there are still six months to go before Sanders can sign a national letter of intent with a college program. A lot can change between now and then. I’m sure the Vols will keep swinging. And maybe they’ll be able to convince Sanders to spend his college career closer to home in Knoxville instead of Oxford.
