Tennessee Vols athletic director Danny White just gets it.
Now, that doesn’t mean he’s about to turn the football program into a powerhouse. Maybe he will. Maybe he won’t. It’s way too early to tell and too many variables go into whether or not that happens.
But when it comes to the essence of Tennessee, White gets it. And that’s because he’s actually listening to Vol fans. He’s taking the time to understand what’s important to the folks who support the program through thick and thin.
Another example of that came on Saturday morning with this tweet from White.
I’m learning that there’s sentimental value in these letters! Thought y’all might enjoy a bit of nostalgia today – they’re outside Gate 21 if you want a picture. I’m gonna go out on a limb and guess that y’all want us to include the Vols letters in our Neyland renovation plans…? pic.twitter.com/M6jcbWEDsa

Fans have been begging for the V-O-L-S letters to return to the top of Neyland Stadium for years.
It’s unclear exactly what White’s plan is for the letters, but having a plan at all is a good start.
