It’s May 19, the quietest time of the year when it comes to college football, and a couple of heavyweight SEC coaches are publicly sparring over NIL deals.
On Wednesday night in Birmingham, Alabama head coach Nick Saban accused Jimbo Fisher and Texas A&M of buying every recruit in their 2022 signing class.
Yep, he actually said it.

Fisher wasn’t just going to sit quietly and let Saban make accusations about his program. The Aggies’ head coach called a press conference on Thursday to address Saban’s comments and he didn’t hold back.

Jimbo Fisher taking a blow torch to Nick Saban. I’ve never seen anything like this in college football. Not in public, anyway. This is deeply personal: pic.twitter.com/JDbPQQhAB3

College football is the best, isn’t it?
It didn’t take long for Ole Miss head coach Lane Kiffin, who was obviously watching the drama unfold like the rest of us, to offer a response.
The normally vocal Kiffin tweeted that he was speechless after watching Fisher’s press conference.
Did this really just happen??? @ClayTravis First time I can remeber being speechless. SEC Meetings in Destin 🫣 https://t.co/vlvQW4YWQ4 pic.twitter.com/V09xHyiIXz

I think a lot of us had the same reaction as Kiffin. It was almost surreal watching Fisher tear Saban apart on Thursday. It’s been a while since I’ve seen that level of vitriol from one head coach toward another.
SEC media days in July are always a must-watch event. But the Fisher/Saban drama just took things up a level.
