Jeremy Pruitt doesn’t have a lot of admirers outside the state of Alabama, but you can count an Atlanta-based fast food restaurant among those who are fans of the former Tennessee Vols head coach.

On Monday, SEC insider John Talty tweeted a short excerpt from his upcoming book “The Leadership Secrets of Nick Saban” and it included an anecdote about Pruitt.

According to Talty, Pruitt was on a recruiting trip with Saban when the urge for food hit. Pruitt suggested that the pair hit up Zaxby’s.

Saban had never heard of Zaxby’s, so he asked Pruitt “What the f— is a Zaxby’s?”

Pruitt explained the premise of Zaxby’s — it’s mostly just fried chicken — as a “classier Chick-Fil-A”.

Here’s the tweet:

Zaxby’s saw the story and responded “nailed it”.

I’m not a huge fast food type of guy, but I’ve eaten at Zaxby’s quite a few times. The food is fine. It’ll satisfy your hunger, but there are better options.

And one of those better options is Chick-Fil-A.

I don’t know which Zaxby’s Pruitt has been visiting, but I’ve never walked into one of their locations and thought “man, this is just a classier Chick-Fil-A”.

Of course, we shouldn’t be surprised that the man who had never heard of asparagus has questionable fast food opinions.

The people running the Zaxby’s Twitter account are probably the only people on the planet who agree with Pruitt on this one.
