The Tennessee Vols will kick off the 2021 season in exactly a month, and no one is quite sure what to expect.

Will the Vols excel in Josh Heupel’s first year as the program’s head coach?

Or will Tennessee struggle mightily after losing a multitude of key players to the transfer portal?

Those are questions that no one can reasonably answer right now.

But that’s not going to stop projections from being made for the Volunteers in 2021.

Tennessee Vols

The Caesars Sportsbook by William Hill recently updated their projected win totals for each SEC team. And they have Tennessee winning 6 games this season (via 247Sports).

(They have South Carolina’s win total set at 3.5 wins and Vanderbilt at 3 wins. Kentucky and Missouri are at 7 wins. Florida is at 9 nines, while Georgia is at 10.5 wins.)

This is pretty much on par with most of the projections that we’ve seen recently for Tennessee. The Vols have two “automatic wins” on the schedule in South Alabama and Tennessee Tech. Another game they should win is the Bowling Green matchup to open the season on September 2.

Beyond that, there are several games that Tennessee could win, though they are far from certain. The matchups against Pittsburgh, South Carolina, Vanderbilt, Missouri, and Kentucky are all winnable games. But those are also games that UT could easily lose. Anywhere from four wins to seven wins is possible for the Vols in 2021.
