Tennessee Titans running back Derrick Henry hasn’t played since week eight when he suffered a Jones fracture in the team’s win against the Indianapolis Colts.

The initial injury timeline suggested that Henry would be out 6-10 weeks, putting his return to the Titans this season in jeopardy.

On Thursday, however, Titans fans received some good news.

ESPN’s Dianna Russini reported that she’s talked with folks around the Titans organization and there’s growing optimism that Henry will return to the field in early January.

The Titans’ final regular-season game is against the Houston Texans on January 9.

If the Titans are the top seed in the AFC they would get a bye in the first round, meaning they wouldn’t play until January 22 or January 23. If they don’t get a bye, their first playoff game would be the weekend of January 15.

Either way, it appears increasingly likely that Tennessee will have Henry for their playoff run.
