South Carolina Gamecocks head coach Shane Beamer is having a tough start to the 2022 season.

And it’s not just because of what’s happening on the field at South Carolina (the Gamecocks are 1-2 so far).

It seems like every time Beamer gets behind a microphone, he goes viral for some mind-boggling statement he makes.

This week was no exception.

At one point during his weekly presser, Beamer pointed out that South Carolina won 10 out of 12 fourth quarters last season.

The Gamecocks lost six games last season — which wasn’t a bad year for Beamer in his first season leading the program.

But what is this fourth-quarter drivel?

Does it really matter if you outscore a team in the fourth quarter if you lose?

Or what if you’re trailing 38-14 when the game enters the fourth quarter and the other team puts in their backups (that’s a reference to South Carolina’s game against the Tennessee Vols last season, though UT still “won” the fourth quarter)?

Beamer is the second coming of Butch Jones. And that’s not a good thing.

Jones crashed and burned at Tennessee while spewing nonsense like this. Beamer will likely follow the same path.
