Tennessee Vols catcher Evan Russell was unavailable on Friday night for UT's matchup against Alabama State in the Knoxville regional due to being sick.
Russell's father, Jason, explained on Saturday that Russell, who is expected to play on Saturday night against Campbell, has been dealing with "anxiety, stress, and pressure".
The update from Russell's father comes after ESPN announcers referenced a fake report on Friday night that suggested that the Volunteers' catcher had been suspended for PEDs.
Those were incredibly reckless and unprofessional comments by ESPN's announcers.
And Tennessee athletic director Danny White didn't hesitate to call out ESPN for the misinformation while standing up for his student-athlete.
Good on White for quickly addressing completely unfound rumors that were spread about Russell by the biggest brand in sports.
Tennessee has demanded a public apology from ESPN.
