The Tennessee Titans received some unfortunate news on Monday morning.
According to a report from Adam Schefter, which was confirmed by A to Z Sports' Buck Reising, Titans running back Derrick Henry could miss the rest of the regular season due to a foot injury.
This is definitely a massive blow to the Titans' offense. There isn't a running back in the NFL more important to their team's offense than Henry.
With Henry expected to miss a significant amount of time, the Titans are looking to the free agent market for some running back help.
According to ESPN's Jeremy Fowler, the Titans are expected to work out former NFL MVP running back Adrian Peterson.
Peterson, who turned 36 in March, played for the Detroit Lions last season. The seven-time Pro-Bowler rushed for 604 yards (3.9 yards per attempt) and seven touchdowns in 16 games last season (10 starts). He shared the backfield duties mostly with D'Andre Swift and Kerryon Johnson.
There's obviously no way the Titans can replace Henry's production or his influence on opposing defenses. But signing Peterson would at least give Tennessee a veteran presence in the running back room for the final half of the season.
