Earlier this year, Axios reported that the Tennessee Titans are exploring the idea of building a new stadium in Nashville.

The reasoning is that price to make renovations to Nissan Stadium has increased so much that building a new stadium makes more sense financially.

On Monday, a new report from Axios indicates that the Titans are one step closer to building a new stadium.

According to Axios, Governor Bill Lee is asking the legislature to approve $500 million in bonds that would go toward building a new stadium.

There's one catch to the proposal — the money would have to go toward an "enclosed stadium".

That would allow the city of Nashville to use the stadium for a wider range of events (more concerts, NFL draft combine, Final Four, Super Bowl, College Football Playoff, other indoor events).

Axios also reported that the new Titans stadium would be located east of Nissan Stadium and "closer to the interstate".

$500 million, of course, is nowhere close to enough money to build a new stadium. The total expected price to build the Titans a new stadium would be around $2 billion

There's obviously still a long way to go before any plans are finalized (and more financing that needs to happen). But at this point, I'd say it's only a matter of time before those plans become official.
