The festivities of the NFL Combine for this year's draft are in full swing. That means plenty of prospects will be talking to plenty of teams. That being said, it is clear that the Tennessee Titans are talking to plenty of talented wide receivers. Add Penn State WR Jahan Dotson to that group. He could be a potential target for the Titans with their first-round pick because he most likely won't make it to their second-round selection.
Dotson talks Titans and their receivers
This draft is full of talent at wide receiver. Multiple teams will get starters at the position on day two and day three. That doesn't take away from the impressive talent at the top, though. Dotson is a part of that group, and his skill set is different from many of the others. At 5'11, he doesn't have the size of others in the class like Treylon Burks or Drake London. That being said, his burst and route-running make up for it plenty. Dotson has great hands and creates plenty of separation from defensive backs.
His fit with Tennessee
A player like Dotson makes plenty of sense for the Titans. They have a couple of looming receivers in A.J. Brown and Julio Jones. Dotson would add a new, quick dynamic to the offense that they could desperately use. At his size, he actually flourishes on the outside, rather than in the slot where many would expect. His ability to high-point the football at his size is definitely impressive as well. This would allow for more time for Brown or Jones to be in the slot against opponents' nickel backs that probably cannot match their size/speed combo.
His pure speed and run-after-catch ability would also create havoc for defenses. Worrying about A.J. Brown with the ball in his hands is one thing. Having to worry about both him and Dotson getting schemed touches is a different beast.
There are plenty of interesting receiver targets for the Titans in the first round of this draft. Dotson is a name to keep an eye on as April approaches.
